Space time characterization II - Emission chronology

Understanding the emission time sequence of neutrons, protons, and light charged particles can contribute to the understanding of the nuclear interaction and of the structure of nuclear matter, and it may even be sensitive to details of the nuclear equation of state, such as the density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy. Small angle two-particle correlation functions can be used to deduce information on emission time distributions, and, in particular, on the emission chronology of different particle types. Furthermore, correlation functions from systems similar in size but with different isospin content (created in heavy ion collisions with isotope separated beam and/or target nuclei) are sensitive to the isospin dependence of the decay mechanism, and may be used as a probe for the density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy.
